Well, I remember standing in line my first semester at college listening to a group of guys discussing which engine was in the RX-7. Their final conclusion was a V6, which is kinda sorta right since it does have six combustion chambers, more or less. The picture above is close, with a couple of spares because, well, you know, those leaky seals them V6 RX-7s are known for .

This picture does nothing but confirm the claims of that kid in my high school who claimed that RX-7s have twin-cam engines. What a foo l I was for having doubted him.

Seems like a fair price to me, it can’t be easy making pistons out of an RX7 . You’d need to strip out the aluminum parts from the donor , melt them, purify & re-alloy, cast, forge, heat treat, machine....

V4 Subaru is closer to correct than V4 Honda.

No wonder you are selling them. I mean, those Apex seals are worn completely round...

At that point, is it more of an H or sideways I than a V?

I believe H is the standard designation  for a flat engine, but you could also think of it as a 180° V

Is there any rule that differentiates a boxer from a flat? E.g. does one require opposing cylinders  to fire at the same time?

Kinja'd!!!1

As I understand it, the difference between a 180° V and a boxer basically comes down to the timing of the com bustion. It’s a boxer if opposing pistons fire at the same time. That said, I’m pretty sure a non-boxer flat engine is purely theoretical.
